He Came Near

He Came Near

I mopped my floors this morning.

Just let that sink in for a moment. It is a pretty big deal for me to get that done, for those of you who don’t know me well. I even put some special ingredients into the hot water and my home smells pretty good.

Normally, I have a pretty rough attitude when it comes to preparing my home for events. I love to have people around us, but I don’t always enjoy the work that goes into that preparation. So let me just tell you the story of how it all went down before 10 a.m.

I woke up late and hurriedly ushered my children to their schools. I finally had to apologize to my sweet middle child (I found out today was National Middle Child’s Day or maybe it was yesterday, so that’s typical) because I just wasn’t helping her be successful. All I did was bark what NOT to do.

After I finally quit the insane conversations running through my mind I finally paused to hear the Lord speak to me, “Instead of complaining, why don’t you begin to pray over your home and the people who will come?” Instantly all the chores became a time of fellowship with Father God. I began to think about the families who will come to my home and what they each might be experiencing this week. It was incredible to pray for them and their jobs, marriages, families, whatever came to my heart.

I prayed that the peace of God would manifest itself in my home. I prayed that each person who enters will feel the love of God wrap around them and let them know that they are loved completely and without exception by God.

I plugged my iPhone into our speaker system and began to worship as I mopped these floors. Kari Jobe’s “Forever” video on YouTube blew me away. She had a poet come and deliver his poem and it moved me to tears in gratitude for getting another glimpse of Who Jesus is.

God “sent His Son as The Word: Living Proof. He is the image of the invisible God. The firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, giving nothingness formation and by His Word He sustains in the power of His Name. For He is before all things, and over all things He reigns. Holy is His Name, so praise Him for His life!

The way he persevered in strife, the humble Son of God becoming the perfect sacrifice.

Praise Him for His death. That He willingly stood in our place. That He lovingly endured the grave. That He battled our enemy and on the third day He rose in victory! He is everything that was promised. Praise Him as a Risen King. Lift your voice and sing! For one day He will return for us and we will be finally reunited with our Savior or eternity. So it’s not just words that I proclaim. For my words point to The Word and The Word has a Name. Hope has a name! Joy has a name! Peace has a name. Love has a name! And that name is Jesus Christ! Praise His Name FOREVER!”

What joy to experience the nearness of Christ in my home! Thank You, Lord! You’ve made all the difference in my life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. My heart will never be able to hold the power of Your grace and mercy so may I pour it out in worship.
